I carry Zimbabwe within me: the smell of rain on dry soil, the warmth of the African sun, the glorious roar of thunder as it rolls across the land. Though I am far away, the memory of the land of balancing rocks never loosens its hold. It ingrained in me an enduring love for nature. There, its magnificence is revealed in every sunrise and in every sunset. In Zimbabwe, space is 'felt' and within this space, time unfolds differently. It stills, it slows down.
These paintings are large and immersive, filled with bold fields of colour, echoing the vastness of the land and the power of the animals that inhabit it. They reach across distance to keep alive what Zimbabwe gave me - stillness, strength and the sense of belonging to something greater than oneself.
