Tropical Grasslands

A piece of Zimbabwe, wearable and unforgettable.

Explore collection

I carry Zimbabwe within me. Its red earth, its endless horizons, its skies lit by thunder and fire. Though I am far from it, the memory of the land of balancing rocks
never loosens its hold. It ingrained in me an adoration for nature; for there, its magnificence is in every sunrise, in every sunset. In Zimbabwe, space is 'felt' and
within this space, time unfolds differently. It stills, it slows down. I remember and I long for the smell of rain on dry soil, the warmth of the sun whose dry heat
seeps into the body, the glorious roar of thunder as it rolls across the land and the quiet that only wide open spaces can give.

These paintings are born of that longing. They are my most painterly works – large, immersive canvases filled with bold fields of colour; fierce, luminous,
uncontained, echoing the vastness of the horizons of my childhood; large enough to hold the scale of animals whose presence fills the land. They are not just
depictions of animals but living portraits of strength, memory and kinship.

If we observe closely, we'll find that animals teach us many things about our own humanity... the best parts of it.. the parts we should strive to preserve. These
paintings reach back across distance to keep alive what Zimbabwe gave me – stillness, strength and the sense of belonging to a place greater than oneself.

Grace in Stillness

Not everything wild is loud. Some forces shape the world with quiet steps and unwavering presence. This scarf doesn't roar - it remembers. It holds the hush of morning light over the plains, the echo of knowledge passed down by generations, the weight of something sacred.

Elephants

Like man, elephants carry knowledge of their ancestors. These memories are sacred, enabling older females to guide their herd safely across plains to water and shelter. Elephants are the heartbeat of the savannah; steady and omnipresent, symbols of endurance and kinship. Their monumental gray forms rise from Zimbabwe's red earth, surrounded by creatures great and small. The hornbill, the dung beetle, the chameleon, all are bathed in the soft light of early sunrise. All are united in purpose: to sustain the land, to fertilize the soil, to honour the sacred balance of life. This piece is for those who carry wisdom within.

The Quiet Flame

The lioness scarf holds a steady fire - one of strength and fierce elegance, inspired by the wild grace of its namesake; this piece glows with colour and raw energy. It speaks not in volume but in intention. A silk-bound tribute to resilience, femininity and the beauty of knowing one's own power.

Lioness

The one that will never stop defending her own, the protector and provider of her pride. The Lioness scarf evokes strength, feminine resilience and graceful power. For the lioness won't back down; she is ready to give everything in the moment. Like the calm before the storm, this painting is charged with possibility. Blending seamlessly with her environment, immersed amongst the lush yellows, reds and greens of the untamed wilderness around her, she stands utterly still, yet remains alert. This is a piece for those with courage - who lead with instinct and stand steady in their truth.
