The inspiration

Elephants is an homage to significance. Like humans, they remember their ancestors. These memories are sacred, enabling older females to guide their herd safely to water and shelter. Elephants are the heartbeat of the savannah - steady and omnipresent, symbols of endurance and kinship.

Their monumental grey forms rise from Zimbabwe's red earth, surrounded by creatures great and small. The hornbill, the dung beetle, the chameleon - all are bathed in the soft light of early sunrise. All are united in purpose: to sustain the land, to fertilize the soil, to honour the sacred balance of life. This piece is for those who carry wisdom within.
